Carlos Vela may have just two more games left as an LAFC player.

The Mexican forward made his 100th MLS regular-season appearance for the Black and Gold on Saturday, coming off the bench in their 1-1 draw with the Seattle Sounders.

But Vela's current contract is due to expire at the end of this month, with only fixtures against the New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas remaining between now and then.

Vela has consistently said he would be happy to remain at Banc of California Stadium and reiterated that point after Saturday's match, though he did leave the door ajar to a possible departure, should talks break down.

“I think we created a really good team, we are doing pretty well," Vela said following the draw at Lumen Field (via MLSsoccer.com). "I feel good to be here. I enjoy to play in LA with our fans. And of course, I have that thing in mind, to win a trophy with this club. So my head is always focused on that.

"But in the end, this is business. We are working on that, but I'm open to be here. But if it's not working, and this thing [does] not happen, I'm also open to leave and find another place. Football is like that. Life is like that. It’s nothing to complain, just see if, in the end, if we can make the deal or not.”

LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo was also questioned about Vela's future on Saturday, though he was unwilling to reveal much.

“Contractual stuff, no news yet,” he said, adding: “But I’m sure we’ll hear soon as time runs out.”

Vela has six goals and two assists to his name in 14 MLS appearances this season. Across all competitions, the former Arsenal and Real Sociedad forward has 73 goals and 33 assists in 116 games during his time with LAFC.
