Carlos Vela has accused Mexican football fans of double standards.

Vela hasn’t been called up by Tata Martino for El Tri’s upcoming friendlies against Chile and Paraguay.

Many fans and journalists in Mexico have questioned the decision, especially since the striker has been in such good form at club level recently.

And after scoring twice in LAFC’s 2-2 draw with New York City FC at the weekend, the 30-year-old gave his thoughts on the situation.

“I think that in Mexico they have very good players,” said Vela, as reported by Mexican outlet W Deportes.

“They always have new players, and they do well.

“When I’m there, they kill me. When I’m not there, they want me there.

“It’s never good enough.”
