Carlos Vela could retire in Liga MX

Mexican international Carlos Vela has allegedly admitted he “would love” to retire in Liga MX.

The former Arsenal and Real Sociedad forward is currently playing for MLS club LAFC, where he has scored nine times this year. However, his sights are set on one more move before he hangs up his boots.

According to journalist Rafael Ramos, Vela’s representatives have confirmed a conversation which took place between Vela and Emilio Azcárraga, chief executive of Televisa, who own Club América.

Ramos claims Azcárraga told Vela: “I’d love you to play for Club América at the age of 30 and retire there.”

Vela, who is 29, is said to have replied, “Sure, I’d love to.”

Before signing for Arsenal at the age of 17, Vela spent three seasons in the academy of América rivals Chivas Guadalajara.
