América legend Carlos Reinoso has criticised the club’s apparent willingness to part with Sebastián Córdova.
The attacker was part of a failed swap deal with Chivas for Uriel Antuna, but his reportedly frosty relationship with Azulcrema manager Santiago Solari means he is still all but certain to depart before the 2022 Clausura.
Reinoso understands both sides of the equation, having made almost 300 appearances in the 1970s before enjoying three separate terms in charge at Las Águilas.
“On a personal basis I would never have sold him, he is a boy born in América with barbaric conditions,” Reinoso told TUDN.
“I do not agree with people saying that he is ‘cold chest’, that he is not here to play, that he contributes very little.
“A boy who at the age of 24 already made it to the Mexican team, played in the Olympics, it is because he has conditions, otherwise they would not take him to the Mexican team.
“It is a personal taste, I think he should not leave,” the former midfielder (known as the ‘Maestro’) added.
The Chilean’s opinion is unlikely to have much impact, however, with numerous outlets claiming that Córdova will seal a move to Tigres early next week.
