West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has insisted he’s fully focussed on the Baggies after links to Everton emerged after their sacking of Frank Lampard.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a productive spell at The Hawthorns already with his side rising from the bottom three into playoff contention during his short tenure so far.

This comes after leading Huddersfield to a surprise run at promotion last season, having missed out to Nottingham Forest in the play-off final.

After a disappointing short spell at Olympiakos, Corberan is reminding everyone just how talented of a coach he is having pushed West Brom into promotion contention in just a short spell.

That will inevitably lead to speculation, with Corberan being mentioned recently in relation to the job at West Ham with pressure having cranked up on David Moyes. He was this week said to be on an Everton shortlist following Frank Lampard’s exit.

However, Corberan has reiterated his commitment to the Baggies, insisting his focus on fully on them, telling the Express and Star: “The other things… I don’t know, you can tell me that there are rumours this week, another week the rumour disappears, my focus is my work.

“In front of me at this club there are many challenges. This is my focus. I am very pleased to be working here, I’ve said before that these things cannot change.”

West Brom will be hoping they can continue their form under Corberan when they take on Bristol City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Verdict

It seems Corberan is fully comitted to the role at West Brom which will be music to the ears of supporters.

Managerial speculation can always become a huge distraction and in the worst case scenarios, derail a season for some teams.

However, considering the sting from his Olympiakos stint might still be raw, Corberan will not be walking away from the club any time soon.
