Carlos Corberan plays down Huddersfield Town fitness concerns as duo back in contention to face Nottingham Forest

Huddersfield Town will welcome Fraizer Campbell and Rolando Aarons back into contention this weekend against Nottingham Forest, whilst Carlos Corberan is still waiting for news on a couple of unnamed individuals ahead of Saturday’s clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Aarons is yet to feature for Huddersfield this season for an array of reasons, most recently illness. However, Corberan has confirmed that he’s available now and training well.

Speaking to this morning’s press conference, he said: “He’s (Aarons) fine and can be one of the available players. He has trained the last two days and was excellent in those training sessions, so he’s going to be one option more that we have.”

Campbell, meanwhile, was rested during Tuesday night’s impressive 3-0 win over Blackpool. Corberan confirmed that, all being well, the veteran striker will be back against Forest.

He continued: “Yes, Campbell is going to be available tomorrow and he’s going to be in the squad. Unless something happens today, which I hope it doesn’t, he’s going to be one of the players in the group.”

Despite the undoubted positivity of adding Aarons and Campbell back into a squad full of confidence, Huddersfield are making checks on a couple of players’ minor knocks ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Forest.

Corberan, though, was keen to underline that this was a normal process and nothing to cause alert.

The Spaniard revealed: “Some of the players have asked for some assessment. During the morning today they will be with the medical staff, there are two or three players that are feeling something. It doesn’t look like anything serious. We will have training this afternoon, at 1pm I will know more details.

“It’s something normal and I don’t want to create any impact in the mind of anyone (by naming names). It’s normal. The second day after a game is always a strange day. They feel something and want to come in for an assessment. It can be a normal feeling they have or it can be more serious and make us change our mind.

“It’s a normal process and I don’t want to create any alert, even for the players, who didn’t say they couldn’t play. I don’t want to create alert for something that didn’t happen.”

Huddersfield will also be making a late call on back-up goalkeeper, Ryan Schofield: “Schofield continues having a problem in his back. We are going to test him today to see if he can react well and be on the bench, or whether he will continue to be out of the team.”

Elsewhere, both Pipa and Jordan Rhodes are recovering from their respective long-term lay-offs well, although it’s too early to say whether or not they could be back ahead of schedule.

Aaron Rowe is also edging closer to a return after a couple of setbacks.

“We hope that next week he can start training,” Corberan said. “We are going to see how he reacts in the coming days.”
