West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is hopeful Albion can ‘fix the needs’ in their squad in the remaining hours of the transfer window.

Deadline day is looming with the window set to close on Tuesday, meaning West Brom are on limited time when it comes to adding to their squad.

According to the Express and Star, West Brom are looking to add up to two new players ahead of the 11pm deadline. Corberan has yet to make any new signings as Albion boss with restrictions on the budget in place.

Despite difficulties in finding exactly where he needs to add to his squad, it is understood he narrowed down the search to an extra central midfield option, with a potential loan for Nottingham Forest’s former Huddersfield star Lewis O’Brien top of the agenda, although that move could fall through.

That will only heighten the ambition of bringing extra reinforcements into the side. Speaking to the Express and Star about their late window ambitions, Corberan explained: “We still have time to fix the needs and cover what we need to cover.

“Of course, in my mind, I had one idea to improve the team. But after the situation with [Matt] Phillips of course we have lost one player probably till the end of the season and it’s something we need to fix.”

Without going into vivid detail, Corberan could well be in the market for both a central midfielder and a wide player to cover the loss of Phillips.

Whatever the case, the Baggies will need to be shrewd when they make their moves as they look to continue their momentum under Corberan, with promotion a definite possibility.

The Verdict

It would have been expected to see West Brom quiet in the transfer window as a result of their financial issues. The loan the club has recently taken out is being used to cover ongoing costs, with transfers likely to not come under that category.

So for West Brom to make signings, they need to be shrewd with what they look to bring in.

They already have a squad packed with quality and despite the absence of Phillips, Corberan is likely to be more than happy with the players at his disposal should they fail to sign any new players.
