West Brom manager Carlos Corberan will use the World Cup to build relationships with his players as he looks to plot more success for the coming season.

It’s been a rocky start for West Brom, but Corberan has brought solidity and stability in the Baggies side that saw them win three games in a row.

Not only that, but they kept three clean sheets in a row as well, ensuring they went into the prolonged break in a much happier position than a few weeks ago.

To make use of the time off, Albion will be heading to Costa Blanca in Spain for a one-week training camp later this month with Corberan hoping to make use of the intimate time with his players.

Speaking to the Express and Star, Corberan said: “I want to use our time in the training camp to watch football games with the players, to have time having dinner and to spend some time watching football.”

Corberan also revealed why he pushed for a warm weather camp explaining that the time together as a squad will generate a more a team unit: “But it was one effort the club needed to do, because we needed to have this time together, to break a little bit these weeks, to not be in the same place every single day.”

Corberan will be hoping this extra time together will prove beneficial as they gear up for the return of Championship football in December when they take on Sunderland.

It’s a good idea from a Corberan. Creating a team unit will generate results on the pitch as history will tell you.

In the Championship, it’s been proven that you don’t have the have the best team in terms of quality as a cohesive unit goes a long way.

The likes of Sheffield United under Chris Wilder, any Neil Warnock team and even Corberan’s Huddersfield side have proven that having a squad willing to play for each other can be massively beneficial as the season wears on.

It’s a shrewd move from Corberan taking advantage of the break in this way when most teams may use it as an opportunity to rest.
