Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has played down claims that Mohamed Salah is out for 'revenge'.

In an article by Mirror Sport, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Italian responded to the 29-year-old's claim that he wants 'revenge' on Saturday for what happened in Kyiv four years ago.

"It may be a motivation but Madrid lost a final in Paris to Liverpool. It could be revenge for us too," Ancelotti said.

"We have met many times. Losing with them was a tragedy with Roma in 1984 and 2005. Then the revenge, which Salah says, in 2007. I respect him a lot. One of the best experiences of my career is seeing the push Bernabeu or Anfield.

"In addition to the beautiful experience of being rivals with Everton. I like their history, that of (Bob) Paisley, they have six Champions Leagues, only one less than AC Milan - that's an extra motivation too. My Milanist friends tell me don't let them reach seven."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Ancelloti has a lot of opposition fans praying that Liverpool don't beat his side on Saturday.

The supporters of Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan are desperate for the Reds not to win their seventh European Cup.

Liverpool fans probably only have Barcelona fans hoping that they beat Real Madrid, but even then, our relationship with them isn't exactly the best.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be fully aware of this and it will give him and his side that extra bit of motivation to bring the trophy back to Merseyside on Sunday.

Saturday's final against Real Madrid will be Klopp's fourth Champions League final as a manager. The first one he lost against Bayern Munich with Borussia Dortmund.

Then, he became the Liverpool boss and lost in Kyiv against Real Madrid. However, the season after he won his first Champions League final against Tottenham in Spain.

He will be hoping to make it an even 2-2 against Real Madrid on the weekend. Hopefully the lads can perform and give Klopp what he deserves.
