Martin, for his part, is the current captain of Real Madrid’s Castilla outfit.

A defensive midfielder by trade, the Spanish youth international has long been considered a potential star in the making behind the scenes at Valdebebas.

Despite having been afforded his first-team debut in January of 2023, Marin has found a path to consistent minutes at senior level in Spain’s capital understandably difficult to come by.

As much comes with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni in front of him in the pecking order at the base of Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield.

Evidently, though, this does not come owing to a lack of faith in Martin’s abilities on the part of Real’s headmaster.

As revealed by The Athletic, Ancelotti has already put plans in place to include the youngster on his side’s upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.

The Italian, it is added, ‘has mentioned to those closest to him that he sees the defensive midfielder as being ready to play in the elite’.

And yet, Martin’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu remains unclear.

The summer departures of both Dani Ceballos and Luka Modrić are likely to be required for the Spaniard to be afforded a place in Real’s first-team setup next season.

Aware that his prospects remain murky at best at present, Martin, in turn, recently switched agencies, amid ongoing interest in his signature by way of La Liga high-flyers Girona.
