Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his plans between the posts for his side’s upcoming meeting with Villarreal.

The subject of the goalkeeper situation in Spain’s capital has of course dominated the headlines for several weeks now.

As much comes with the aforementioned Ancelotti having been forced to face up to something of a dilemma.

With Thibaut Courtois having returned from an eight-month spell on the sidelines looking as though he hasn’t missed a step, Los Blancos’ no.1 status has been thrown firmly up in the air for the season’s final weeks.

The previous assumption was that Andriy Lunin’s stellar performances would see the Ukrainian maintain his role as first-choice, whilst Courtois continued to work towards full fitness.

The latter, however, has since racked up three clean sheets in three appearances, now pushing for a starting berth in the upcoming Champions League final.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the goalkeeper situation at the club was put to Real Madrid’s boss.

And though he refused to reveal his intentions for the upcoming Wembley showpiece, Carlo Ancelotti did confirm a planned change for Sunday.

This comes with Andriy Lunin set to be restored to starting duties against Villarreal at La Cerámica.

“Andriy Lunin will play tomorrow,” Ancelotti announced.
