The Athletic reported last week that Jenkinson was set for ‘at least a month’ out of action, after picking up an injury in a recent draw with Preston North End.
Jenkinson will only be two weeks into that month out when Forest travel to the Emirates Stadium, so his chances of featuring are now over. The right-back’s problem is believed to be related to his ankle, and he was wearing a protective boot at the time of The Athletic’s update.
Matty Cash has resumed the responsibility of playing at right-back in Jenkinson’s absence, as he did before the former Gunner’s arrival in Nottingham.
Though Cash is normally a right-midfielder, he’d been playing at right-back to fill in for the injured Tendayi Darikwa, whose injury sparked Forest’s move for Jenkinson in the first place.
Jenkinson made four appearances for his new club before his injury, which isn’t expected to be a long-term issue. That’s good news, at least, considering the length of some of the defender’s injuries in North London.
The 27-year-old will no doubt be in attendance for the match on Tuesday anyway, though which side he’ll be supporting is anyone’s guess.
