The five-time UEFA Champions League winner is fronting a consortium which is looking to secure a takeover of the League One outfit, after seeing their first bid turned down.

Bale was linked with a surprise bid to buy Plymouth Argyle prior to his interest in Cardiff, but these reports have since been denied, with the 35-year-old seemingly never holding any interest in buying the Pilgrims.

The ex-Galactico's full focus is on South Wales, with him launching a second bid to purchase the Bluebirds, according to reports by the Front Office Sports.

After years of feuding between the current higher-ups at the club and the supporters, which eventually culminated in relegation to the third tier, it seems like a takeover from the hometown hero would be more than welcome.

The story of Bale's interest in buying Cardiff has been rumbling on since the middle of June, with the former Real Madrid star tabling a bid to purchase the club, which was rejected by the current ownership group.

Malaysian businessman Tan reportedly has little interest in sanctioning a sale of the club currently, with the initial proposal understood to have not even reached the boardroom discussion stage.

However, undeterred by this setback, Bale has now launched a fresh bid, with the 35-year-old telling Front Office Sports Today that he believes the new proposal is "a great offer."

The Bluebirds have yet to make a signing this summer, as their current rivals at the top of League One continue to strengthen, leaving the Welsh club to play catch-up as we approach the start of the new campaign.

The former Real Madrid talisman has been vocal about his interest in buying the club, and spoke with Front Office Sports Today, confirming that his consortium had tabled a new offer for his hometown club.

Speaking about the latest offer, Bale said: "It's exciting news, we have a brand-new offer on the table. It's recently just gone in.

"We think it's a great offer, one that we're very happy with.

"We think it's very fair, if not more than fair, and it's something we hope the current owners will take serious.

"We'd love them to accept so we can take full control and get on with what we want to do and create Cardiff into a club that we know it can be."

It remains unclear whether the current ownership's stance on a sale of the club will change with this latest offer, but Bale himself firmly believes that their latest bid is enough for Tan to take seriously.
