Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Cape Town City have announced the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keegan Dolly on a free transfer after his departure from TS Galaxy.
The 32-year-old playmaker had been unattached since parting ways with the Betway Premiership club at the end of last season. He joined the Rockets in November 2024 following his exit from the Soweto giants.
During his spell with the Mpumalanga-based outfit, Dolly made a total of 20 appearances across all competitions, while chipping in with three goals as Galaxy finished in a record high fifth place in the league.
Dolly recently returned from national duty as he was part of Molefi Ntseki’s final African Nations Championship (CHAN) squad, where the South African national team crashed out in the group stages of the tournament.
The attacking midfielder featured in all four matches during the biennial tournament that’s co-hosted in East Africa by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with Bafana Bafana playing their matches in the latter country.
Now, the ex-Montpellier star is set to embark on a new journey in the South African second tier, with the Citizens heavily bolstering their squad with experience in key positions in a bid to secure an immediate return to the topflight.
The Cape club suffered relegation following a dismal showing in the Betway Premiership last season. City’s fate was sealed via the PSL Relegation/ Promotion playoffs, prompting a host of experienced campaigners to leave the club.
However, City reinforced their ranks in the wake of losing key players to clubs competing in the elite league. The John Comitis-owned side acquired the services of Njabulo Ngcobo, Sfiso Ngobeni, and Simon van Duivenbooden, among others, while they made a U-turn on Lorenzo Gordinho’s exit.
