After seeing a 2-2 draw with Manchester United, Liverpool lost their EFL Cup semi-final round to Tottenham Hotspur by 1-0. However, it won’t have big implications as Arne Slot’s men are aiming for bigger missions this season.

The Reds have their next game lined up against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup 3rd round. Fans can expect good number of rotations in the starting XI as keeping the main guns fresh for the Premier League is the main priority.

Defence

Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to be seen operating between the sticks this week, meaning Alisson Becker will be on the bench. Right-back Conor Bradley showed great composure and he should be continuing in that position.

While Jarell Quansah is injured, Virgil van Dijk will probably not be used. Hence, Wataru Endō might be used at the heart of the defence alongside Conor Bradley. Tyler Morton is expected to feature in the left-back spot at the cost of Kostas Tsimikas.

Midfield

It won’t be surprising at all if Arne Slot swaps his entire midfield unit for this fixture. The trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Curtis Jones are making way for James McConnell, Trey Nyoni, and Harvey Elliott.

Attack

Mohamed Salah gets the deserving rest as he needs to remain fresh for important games ahead. In his absence, Federico Chiesa can be deployed on the right flank with Darwin Nunez taking care of the other side of the pitch.

Jayden Danns is leading the attacking line this time with Diogo Jota enjoying his time on the bench.

Joe Gomez remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Jarell Quansah just joined him after getting subbed off in the first half against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
