Another important Serie A match for Juventus Women First Team as tomorrow, 24 January, they take on Inter Milan.
Bianconere coach Massimiliano Canzi previewed the encounter with the Nerazzurre, who currently sit second in the league standings.
Canzi openly addressed what happened in the loss against Roma:
“It was not a good match, although the girls' commitment was not lacking. Just look at the goal to make it 2-1: we committed numbers forward and got caught on the counterattack and showed great will to work back. However, our concentration was lacking in the decisive moments. There were many parts of the game in which we underperformed, and if that happens against a high-level team like Roma, it makes it difficult to get a result.”
The coach emphasised how defeat can be an opportunity to improve:
“When so many players don't shine at the same time, you think it's just a momentary blip. The positive aspect of defeats is that they allow you to better analyse your mistakes, even those that might go unnoticed in a victory. This week offered us the chance to work on the mistakes we made and make sure they don't happen again.”
The coach highlighted the group's attitude after the defeat:
“I saw anger, and a desire to start again immediately. Our defeat made the headlines, and it is a great honour for us, because it shows how highly we are regarded. It is one more reason to face the upcoming matches with momentum and determination.”
Canzi also commented on the renewal of Sofia Cantore, who is increasingly central to the Bianconere project:
“Sofia is becoming a role model for this team, not only with her goals, but through the contribution she offers with her performance and attitude. She is a professional who knows how to undertake this job with the right balance: always smiling, but extremely serious when it comes to work. This attitude is fundamental for dealing with the pressures of our sport.”
The challenge against Inter comes just a few days after the match against Roma, and Canzi sees this as a positive aspect:
"Playing so early gives us the chance to get back into the game right away and show that the mistakes we made were, as I said before, just a blip. It is an important match, but not a decisive one, because fortunately, the work we have done so far still gives us a good margin in the table.”
