Bristol City striker Nahki Wells has claimed he “can’t wait” to see QPR duo Luke Amos and Charlie Owens back in action when they return to full fitness.

Having joined permanently from Tottenham last summer, Amos made a strong start to the 2020/21 campaign but a nasty knee injury ended his season in October.

Owens’ time on the sideline has been much longer, with multiple problems meaning he’s been out for nearly two years.

QPR released an emotionally charged video about the former Spurs duo’s recovery, with both players now training on the grass and closing in on their return.

In the video, it was confirmed that Owens is hoping to be back with the R’s squad for pre-season, while Amos is targeting an August return.

One player that is keen to see them back is Wells, who played alongside the duo during his loan spell with the west London club in the 2019/20 campaign.

The striker joined City in January 2020 but was still quick to send a positive message to the duo as they near their return.

Did each of these 20 midfielders ever score a goal for QPR?

The Verdict

QPR fans will love to see Wells’ message to Amos and Owens, and many will likely echo his thoughts on the pair’s return.

It’s horrible to see anyone sidelined for long periods but even more frustrating when it is up-and-coming young players.

It’ll be a real boost for the R’s to get both back for the 2021/22 campaign, with Mark Warburton’s side looking to build on the progress they made last term.

Warburton has built a squad with a really nice mix of youth and experience but supporters will be wanting to see them push even higher up the table this season.
