Hull City have been one of the Championship's surprise packages as they mount a late charge for the play-offs - but they could well be seeing one of their key players depart in the summer.
An incredible pull from head coach Liam Rosenior and owner Acun Ilıcalı has seen the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Liam Delap and Ryan Giles come through the door on loan, but it's the signing of Jaden Philogene that has really sparked the East Yorkshire outfit into life.
The winger joined from Aston Villa in the summer and has lit the Championship up with dazzling displays - that has brought interested parties from bigger divisions to the table though.
With clubs reportedly circling, including Tottenham, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has weighed in with his verdict of a potential summer move for Philogene.
Goodman is unwavering in his support of the Tigers star and his ability to play in the Premier League, but believes that Philogene needs another season of full Championship experience under his belt before making a big move to the top flight, and doesn't think he would get many minutes at Spurs anyway.
“It’s very similar to the Crysencio Summerville link to Chelsea, isn’t it really?" Goodman said to FLW via King Casino Bonus.
"Would he play ahead of Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Timo Werner, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Manor Soloman who's been injured...would he play? Probably not.
“I tell you what is pleasing though - Premier League teams are starting to look at the Championship.
"Over the years there has been a snobbery from Premier League teams and a reluctance to look at the Championship, but there are some seriously quality players down there. “When you look at what Ollie Watkins is doing, you look at what Ivan Toney did last season, and some of the other players that have come from the Championship that have excelled, there's so much talent. "It all became really fashionable to get players and coaches in from abroad, and Premier League clubs missed an absolute trick in cherry picking the best from the Championship.
“Philogene falls into that category. I understand the link but this is his first proper season where he’s showing any real consistency. Eight goals, six assists - do you pay big money for somebody on the back of that? I don’t know.
“I compare him to Morgan Rogers who Aston Villa took from Middlesbrough. Rogers hasn’t really done anything, he wasn’t shining like a belisha beacon, and I'd say Philogene is having a better season than Rogers.
“You can’t rule it out, but what these Premier League clubs are undoubtedly looking at is potential and nurturing these players.
"He has got masses of potential, but what I’d like to see is for him to finish this season really well and get another good season under his belt before he makes any kind of a big move like that.”
Having had largely unremarkable spells at Stoke City and Cardiff City over the past couple of seasons, Philogene had a good pre-season at Aston Villa to the point where it came as a shock to some that the Premier League outfit sold him for what now looks like such a cheap fee of £5 million.
Only appearing in 22 league matches so far due to injury, Philogene has notched eight goals and six assists, with his trickery and flair really getting fans out of their seats at the MKM Stadium.
An incredible start to his career in Hull was only somewhat tempered by a knee injury, but Philogene has got back to his best with the Tigers unbeaten in six games as they push for a play-off spot.
Spurs fans will likely tread carefully with the Philogene links.
Djed Spence had a superb season in the Championship after somewhat struggling in the years prior, but his Tottenham career has yet to begin after loan spells with Rennes, Leeds United and now Genoa - likewise with Ryan Sessegnon.
Whilst the likes of Brennan Johnson and James Maddison broke through the EFL to announce themselves on the big stage, there is no guarantee that Philogene would play, and as Goodman says he would struggle for game time.
However, there's no doubting that Philogene could become a star, and under Ange Postecoglou, his style of play would massively suit the former Aston Villa man.
