Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has on Tuesday responded to the long-standing speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Kimmich’s name, of course, has long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes with those behind the scenes at Barcelona understood to boast an ongoing interest in his signature.

Previous Blaugrana boss Xavi, in particular, made clear time and time again his appreciation for the talents of the German international, whose contract terms with Bayern are as things stand due to expire next summer.

Faced by the media ahead of the Bavarians’ Champions League showdown with Barca on Wednesday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his Camp Nou links was put to Kimmich himself.

And though the versatile midfielder did not hint directly at an interest in as much, he did leave the door very much open:

“I’m not thinking about that. You should never rule anything out in life and also in football.”
