Barcelona’s woes continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Valencia – a result that could put more pressure on the team and Xavi Hernandez.

Speaking after the game, new signings Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix talked about handling stress in these tough situations, along with their thoughts on the game itself.

Cancelo & Felix on Barcelona’s result

“This point does not concern me. We were superior. We had chances to score four goals and what we got out of it was one point. LaLiga is getting really tough, but we have to fight,” Cancelo lamented after the game.

“If we had converted the opportunities we had, the result would have been different,” the right-back added.

Joao Feli, too, echoed a similar tone. “We have had many chances, we miss scoring goals. We have come from two tough defeats, but I don’t think we are doing things wrong,” he said.

Felix scored Barcelona’s only goal of the night, ten minutes into the second half. But the forward did not celebrate immediately after scoring the goal.

When asked about his action, the forward stated, “Sometimes you celebrate and it’s offside. I thought maybe Raphinha was offside.”

Cancelo on Xavi and Barcelona’s form

Despite murmurs in the press, Joao Cancelo went on to back Xavi on behalf of the team. “We are all with Xavi, forget what the press says,” he said.

“I am telling you the truth and I am speaking on behalf of myself and my colleagues because I am speaking to them,” the defender added. “Xavi is a wonderful man who does his best for Barcelona. He is a legend for Barcelona and for football.”

“He always tries to do the best and for me, it is a pleasure to work with him,” Cancelo further added.

The Portuguese international also talked about handling stress amid a string of poor results for FC Barcelona.

“When I was 20 I didn’t think the same way I do now. Stress affects me differently today. It’s an educational experience,” said the fullback.

“We have a very young team. We are in a difficult moment. Barcelona is used to winning and there is a lot of pressure,” he added.
