Canadian star and Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies shows no signs of concern regarding his availability for the World Cup following his injury scare earlier this month.

In the German giants’ hard-fought 3-2 victory against Hertha BSC, the 22 year-old defender was subbed off after suffering a severe muscular strain, casting a major doubt on his ability to feature in Canada’s long-awaited appearance within the international tournament.

However, after several examinations, Davies was ruled out of the two remaining league fixtures ahead of the break, was deemed as eligible to take part in John Herdman’s 26-man roster in Qatar.

While speaking to in an interview to the media ahead of Canada’s opening match on November 23rd against Belgium, as relayed by OneSoccer, Davies touched upon how he felt physically despite the grave injury:

“I’m happy it wasn’t a little bit longer, I’m truly grateful for that .I’m ready to get back on to the pitch and tomorrow I start my running and after that, we’ll see how it is after that. There’s still a little bit of pain, but overall I feel good and I feel I’ll be at 100% during the World Cup and definitely giving my all for the national team.”
