Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan is reportedly working on his recovery after slumping to a long-term injury at the 2024 Copa America.

According to Tuttosport, as reported by FCInterNews, the Canada international could be considered a ‘new signing’ for Simone Inzaghi when he returns to the fold.

Buchanan suffered a nasty injury to his right tibia during the summer’s tournament in the United States.

As a result, he’ll be on the sidelines for the next few months.

However, the former Club Brugge starlet is eager to return to full fitness as soon as possible.

The 25-year-old joined the Nerazzurri last January and had problems breaking into Simone Inzaghi’s starting XI in 2023/24.

But he started showing glimpses of his potential toward the end of last season.

Unfortunately, the injury has halted his momentum after a promising Copa America start.

While waiting for Buchanan’s return to fitness, Inter Milan have set their sights on Ajax defender Devyne Rensch.

The 21-year-old’s contract in Amsterdam runs out at the end of the season.

As such, Beppe Marotta is keeping close tabs on the homegrown Ajax defender.

Tajon Buchanan is still a relatively unknown entity. He has yet to prove himself in Serie A.

On the other hand, Matteo Darmian is not getting any younger.

Inzaghi can call upon Denzel Dumfries to cover the right-wingback position. However, the Dutchman’s future at Giuseppe Meazza is still up in the air.

Therefore, the reigning Scudetto holders remain in the market for a new wingback.

Rensch ticks all the boxes for a type of player Inter are keen to recruit.

He’s young and has ample room for improvement.

But at the same time, he boasts substantial top-flight experience, having made his Ajax debut in 2020.
