Canadian international Tajon Buchanan will make his debut for Inter Milan against Salernitana, or potentially even against Roma.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it.

So far, Buchanan has yet to take the pitch for a single minute wearing an Inter shirt.

The Nerazzurri signed the 24-year-old from Club Brugge early on last month. They made it a priority to bring the wingback in right at the start of the January transfer window.

Inter signed Buchanan as an emergency replacement for Juan Cuadrado.

The veteran former Juventus, Chelsea, and FIorentina man had to undergo tendon surgery in December. Therefore, he will miss much of the rest of the season.

Accordingly, Inter did not want to wait around getting Buchanan in the squad so that he could start finding his footing.

However, that does not mean that Buchanan played right away.

Since the start of January, Inter have largely relied on Matteo Darmian at right-wingback.

The versatile and dependable former Manchester United veteran has started every match out of the last six Inter have played.

Prior to that, Denzel Dumfries had started against Hellas Verona. And the Dutchman has been the player to replace Darmian as a substitute in recent fixtures, rather than Buchanan.

This does not mean, however, that Inter do not plan on using Buchanan very soon.

The 24-year-old is a player who the Nerazzurri specifically signed with the aim of having him ready to play a role in the busiest part of the season, when the squad depth will really be tested.

Cuadrado would have been that player. But with the Colombian on the sidelines, Buchanan will have to start proving his worth soon.

That could come as soon as next Friday’s Serie A match against Salernitana.

With the Champions League round of sixteen first leg against Atletico Madrid soon following, it looks all but certain that the Nerazzurri will field a rotated team against the Granata.

That should certainly mean an appearance for Buchanan.

And, the Gazzetta report, even a brief appearance against Roma this evening could be possible for Buchanan.
