Leeds United returned to winning ways in the Championship with a 1-0 victory over Stoke City at Elland Road on Tuesday.

Dan James scored the decisive goal as the Whites picked up their 23rd victory of the season.

The Yorkshire outfit made a slow start to the campaign, but a run of 10 victories and one draw in 11 games since the turn of the year has fired them into the top three.

They are now set to face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this weekend, and fans can watch the Championship game live.

Favourable run-in should help Leeds

The Whites have made a massive turnaround in 2024 to get back in contention for automatic promotion this season.

Back-to-back losses in December hindered their hopes of overhauling Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

However, a stunning nine-game winning run, including a 3-1 success against Leicester, put them in touching distance of the top two.

They are one of the favourites to secure automatic promotion as the remaining Leeds fixtures are favourable.

Daniel Farke’s side have already played the Foxes home and away, with the Yorkshire outfit emerging victorious on both occasions.

They will not have to worry about Ipswich, as the two sides have met twice this term.

The most challenging fixture for Leeds will be at home to promotion rivals Southampton.

Given their run-in, Leeds are strongly fancied to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
