Club Brugge has beaten the likes of Porto and other German sides to the signing of Christos Tzolis. The Greek winger was the star player for Fortuna Düsseldorf as they almost won promotion to the Bundesliga. Tzolis was on loan from Norwich for the season, with a purchase option included in the deal. Fortuna activated the purchase option with the idea that they would then be able to sell the player for more than the purchase option. According to reports, Club are spending around €6m to sign the winger.

Tzolis is only 22-years-old and cost Norwich €11m from PAOK back in 2021. However, he was unable to break through in England, with loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna. In just 30 Bundesliga 2 games last season, the winger scored an incredible 22 goals and grabbed seven assists. Tzolis was arguably the best player in the second tier of German football with Fortuna. He now moves to Club Brugge where there are a number of options out wide. Yet if club sell the likes of Antonio Nusa and Andreas Skov Olsen, then Tzolis will certainly be there to step into a starting spot.

Tzolis gives Club Brugge a strong dribbler, who has pace and the ability to finish. He was strong for Fortuna on the counter last season, helping them spring from defence into attack with devastating consequences. Tzolis can play either wing or be used as a central striker, although he is better coming in off the left.

Fortuna will certainly miss the Greek winger next season, but after their devastating end to the season there was always an expectation that he would be bought from Norwich to be sold on to another club.
