Moroccan forward Ghizlane Chebbak and Senegalese striker Nguenar Ndiaye share the top spot on the scorers' chart after the second matchday of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Both have netted four goals from two appearances.

The second round of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations wrapped up this Friday, July 11, in Morocco. For some of the twelve competing teams, it was a chance to get back in the race; for others, an opportunity to confirm their strength or even qualify. It also marked the start of the Golden Boot chase. Ghizlane Chebbak and Nguenar Ndiaye have surged to the top of the leaderboard thanks to their clinical finishing up front.

The Moroccan attacker delivered a standout performance against DR Congo, firing home a hat-trick to help Morocco secure a 4-2 win in Rabat. Ghizlane Chebbak, who had already scored in the tournament opener against Zambia, continues to prove herself as a cornerstone in manager Jorge Vilda’s tactical setup.

On the other side, Nguenar Ndiaye seized her moment to shine in Senegalese colors. She bagged a brace against Zambia last Wednesday. While her efforts weren’t enough to prevent the Lionesses of Teranga from suffering defeat, they did allow her to join Chebbak atop the scorers’ table.
