Barcelona’s plan hinges on receiving all the official payment confirmations for the sale of VIP seats for the future Spotify Camp Nou, which is expected to happen tomorrow.

These payments are a key part of the contract and are essential for meeting the financial requirements set by La Liga and other governing bodies.

The club is particularly focused on Article 130.2 of the RFEF’s general regulations, which suggests that players can be re-registered in special circumstances, such as “force majeure or regulatory provision.”

Barcelona are in absolute trouble

However, the current state of affairs presents several obstacles. Although Olmo has been deregistered from La Liga, the possibility of him playing in other competitions like the Copa del Rey, Super Cup, or Champions League is still in question.

Technically, a player can hold a federation license but not play in La Liga due to financial fair play issues. However, they might still be able to participate in tournaments managed by the RFEF, such as the Copa del Rey or Super Cup.

Barcelona have requested a new license from the RFEF, but the major hurdle is that La Liga has the final say.

According to the regulations, La Liga must review and approve the licenses of clubs before the RFEF can issue them. Without La Liga’s approval, the RFEF cannot grant the necessary license for Olmo or any other player to participate in official matches.

Can they play in the UEFA Champions League?

According to SPORT, this issue also extends to European competitions. Without proper registration, players like Olmo and Victor would not be able to play in the Champions League, as UEFA relies on the Spanish Federation to process player registrations.

As per the regulation;

“In order to participate in the aforementioned UEFA competitions, any new player must, among other things, be duly registered with the national federation as a player of the club in question, in accordance with the rules of the associations and FIFA.”

As a result, Olmo and Victor would be unable to feature in Barcelona’s remaining Champions League group matches against Benfica and Atalanta.
