Can Arsenal win the quadruple again? | OneFootball

As we enter the second half of the 2021/22 season, it’s time to ask if the Arsenal Women can match their predecessors and win the quadruple like in 2006/07.

The realistic answer is probably not.

A domestic treble is a possibility, but a quadruple is unlikely right now.

Let’s have a look, competition by competition, from the most prestigious to the least.

Three defeats at the group stage, including two heavy blows against Barcelona, show that the team is not ready to compete for this trophy, yet.

When the competition restarts in March, Arsenal will take on Germany’s Wolfsburg.

This is definitely a winnable tie but then they would likely meet Barcelona again in the semi-finals.

It is clear that a huge improvement would be needed to be able to defeat Barcelona.

Whether that comes from signing a couple of players, like a left-footed centre-back and a midfielder, or through tactical adjustment, something would need to change.

There is a lot of work to be done to be able to compete.

The players and staff will have to find out solutions to beat European opponents, as we recently saw at Hoffenheim away, things have got to improve.

The league table is looking really good so far, unbeaten in nine games and four points clear of Chelsea.

The Gunners have their destiny in their own hands.

Thirteen games is a long way to go, but the title is in sight as long as the team performs consistently and does the job in the big games.

The title can definitely come back to Borehamwood and there is a good feeling in the League so far.

FA Cup

Arsenal enter the competition in the fourth round and will play Championship side London City Lionesses at home.

They are expected to qualify for the next round.

As usual, with a knock-out competition, the draw determines how hard or easy it is to win it.

It is certainly a competition that the Gunners are genuinely expected to do well in, due to their history, if nothing else.

They will also want to avenge their recent defeat in the 2020/21 final against Chelsea.

Arsenal enter the competition in the quarter-final stage, due to their involvement in the Champions League group stage.

The Conti cup group stage games were played at the same time as the Champions League group stage games, so the FA gave a bye to Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Gunners have been drawn at home to Manchester United and should be slight favourites to go through.

Again, it is a knock-out competition, so the draw will have a huge impact on a possible win.

Arsenal also have a great history in this competition.

Conclusion

Overall, I would expect Arsenal to end up the season with at least one trophy and up to three.

Winning one trophy would make it a good first season for new manager Jonas Eidevall and getting two or more would be a fantastic achievement.
