Cameroon take home third in this yearâs Africa Cup of Nations tournament after beating Burkina Faso on penalties on Saturday.
Scorers: Yago 24â˛, Ouattara 49â˛; Onana 43Ⲡ(OG), Bahoken 71â˛, Aboubakar 85â˛, 87â˛
As one of the stories of the tournament, Burkina Fasoâs magical AFCON run looked like it was going to continue as they took the lead over hosts Cameroon through Steeve Yago.
And their luck stayed as the first half continued on. Unfortunately for Cameroon, an error from Ajax goalkeeper AndrĂŠ Onana saw things turn 2-0 and Djibril Ouattara went on to add a third after the break.
However, not down and out just yet, a late push from the hosts saw them get themselves back with a stunning comeback.
Late in the game, StĂŠphane Bahoken pulled one back and a brace in the dying moments from super-sub Vincent Aboubakar saw things go from 3-0 to 3-3.
As the match went into extra time, neither side could find the back of the net again seeing the game go to a penalty shootout where the hosts managed to win 5-3.
