Cameroon and Haiti continued their dreams of qualifying for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 when making the Intercontinental Play-off finals.

Haiti kicked-off the play-offs with a 4-0 Group B semi-final victory over Senegal, at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.

Kethna Louis opened the scoring on half time, with Nerila Mondésir doubling the lead and Roselord Borgella adding two goals in as many minutes.

Haiti now face Chile in the final on Wednesday at 2am UK time, the reward being grouped with England, Denmark and China.

Cameroon defeated Thailand 2-0 in the Group A semi-final at the FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton, Gabrielle Onguéné coming off the bench to get two quick goals in the last dozen minutes. Cameroon had goalkeeper Ange Bawou sent off halfway into 24 minutes of injury time for colliding with an opponent.

They next play Portugal at 7.30am on Wednesday, at stake is a place in the group consisting of the USA, Vietnam and the Netherlands.

The Group C semi-finals are played tonight, with Chinese Taipei v Paraguay at 9pm UK time and Papua New Guinea v Panama at 2am. All ties are live on FIFA+. The winning teams meet in Thursday’s final, with the victors to join group of France, Jamaica and Brazil in the summer.

Meanwhile, among international friendlies ….

Austria were 2-1 winners against the Netherlands in Malta, after a dramatic late comeback. Lieke Martens had given the Dutch an 18th-minute lead which was held until four minutes from time. Eileen Campbell then equalised and Sarah Zadrazil grabbed a stoppage-time decider.

Poland and Switzerland played out a 0-0 draw at Algeciras in Spain.
