Andrea Cambiaso’s agent confirms Manchester City were in advanced negotiations in January, but ‘both Juventus and Andrea were not at all disappointed’ when it fell apart.
There had been reports of an imminent deal for up to €70m in mid-season to bring the versatile full-back to Manchester and the Premier League.
However, it was eventually abandoned when a flurry of injuries forced Pep Guardiola to focus his transfer kitty elsewhere.

“We were informed of the talks and gave our availability, waiting to find out how the negotiations would go,” agent Giovanni Bia told Sky Sport Italia.
“It didn’t go through because at that moment Manchester City had some serious problems and needed to intervene on the transfer market, buying Khusanov, Reis and Nico Gonzalez.”
Was it true that the offer had reached €70m to buy Italy international Cambiaso?
“I don’t know, in my view it was closer to €45-50m, but we never got into it because the two clubs were still doing the talking. In the space of a few days, they had to invest that money in other positions and the talks were abandoned.”

Although Cambiaso had been ready to make the move to Manchester City, his agent wants to clarify that it was not exactly a disappointment when it fell through.
“Guardiola still likes him, but Manchester City have already signed another full-back. Besides, at that moment, both Juventus and Andrea were not at all disappointed that it didn’t go any further.
“Andrea is happy at Juve, he had that ankle problem and wasn’t in a great moment, so Juventus would’ve only sold him when faced with an offer they really couldn’t refuse.
“He hopes to win something big at Juve and is convinced the club will return to its former glory. Playing as a regular for Italy and Juve at age 25 is truly all he could ask for right now.”
Cambiaso already has 14 senior caps for Italy, scoring three goals, and is under contract with the Bianconeri until June 2029.
