Reports in Italy claim Napoli legend Marek Hamsik has been involved in talks with Francesco Calzona, who is ready to replace Walter Mazzarri before Wednesday’s Champions League game against Barcelona.

Mazzarri is walking on thin ice following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Genoa on Saturday.

Multiple sources claim President Aurelio De Laurentiis could sack the Tuscan tactician before a Champions League against Barcelona on Wednesday.

DAZN reporter Orazio Accomando says Calzona, a former assistant to Maurizio Sarri and Luciano Spalletti in Naples, has reached a ‘total agreement’ with the Partenopei.

The journalist claims ADL has not ruled out sacking Mazzarri before Wednesday’s European match.

At the same time, Alfredo Pedullà says Napoli legend Hamsik has been involved in negotiations between the club and Calzona.

The former central midfielder would join Calzona’s staff at the Stadio Maradona until the end of the season.

Calzona is currently in charge of Slovakia’s national team and has qualified for Euro 2024. If the Italian coach gets the Napoli job, he will remain in charge of Slovakia.
