Everton will play hosts to Southampton at Goodison Park on Monday night as they try to pick up another victory in the Premier League and continue their push towards securing a European place at the end of this campaign. The Toffees managed to secure a brilliant 2-0 win over Liverpool last weekend, which will give them a lot of momentum going into this league clash at Merseyside.

Carlo Ancelotti will probably opt for a 3-4-1-2 formation and is expected to make one change to his first-team for this game. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will get the nod to lead the line for Everton up top while Andre Gomes drops to the bench.

Defence

Jordan Pickford will function in between the sticks for the Toffees after he kept a clean sheet in the Merseyside derby win over the Reds earlier this month. Ancelotti could choose to go with a back three of Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate as they focus on restricting the Saints from finding the back of the net during the game.

Everton won’t have Yerry Mina available for this game because of a calf injury.

Midfield

Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure will anchor the midfield for the Merseyside outfit as they look to disrupt Southampton’s rhythm in the game at the centre of the park. Lucas Digne will operate as the left wing-back while Seamus Coleman fills in on the other flank as the right wing-back.

James Rodriguez could be given the freedom to express himself from the number ten position. It would be up to the Colombian attacker to engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Allan, Alex Iwobi and Bernard will all have to settle for a spot on the bench, but some of them might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.

Attack

Richarlison could be asked to lead the charge alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the final third. The former managed to get his name on the scoresheet, while the latter was the one who came off the bench to earn a penalty which sealed the derby victory for Everton last weekend. Hence, they will both fancy their chances of netting a goal on Monday night.

Joshua King will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the latter stages if Ancelotti calls upon his services.
