Callum Wilson has signed a two-year contract extension at Newcastle, according to the Athletic.

The report suggests that the new deal will make the striker one of the highest paid players at the club, and has various options to extend beyond the initial period.

The 30-year-old joined the club in 2020, and reportedly turned down a higher salary from Aston Villa to join Newcastle.

And that decision has paid off, as Wilson has fired in 23 goals in 50 Premier League appearances, including three in four starts in the current campaign.

It’s been suggested that Newcastle have a long-term plan for Wilson, as they hope he will pass on his experience to help develop younger forwards in the future.
