Riccardo Calafiori was withdrawn early from Arsenal’s friendly match against Newcastle United at the weekend, with Mikel Arteta admitting the player felt a tweak before his substitution.
There was also some concern after post-match fan footage showed the player wearing some kind of bandage in the region of his left knee. But the signs on Tuesday have been much more positive.
Calafiori was filmed by fans joining the Arsenal squad for their final training session in Singapore, walking unaided without an obvious limp and without any bandaging or support around his knee. The club then shared pictures of the player attending the session.

After their final training session in Singapore this morning, the squad have set off for Hong Kong, with a game against Tottenham Hotspur coming up on Thursday.
That will be Arsenal’s last friendly of the Asia tour, and the team will then return to the UK for a couple of pre-season fixtures at the Emirates Stadium on August 6th and August 9th.
With any luck, Calafiori will be fit to feature in those matches after shaking off this injury scare.

Calafiori made 29 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25, dealing with six separate injury absences.
The Gunners were fortunate to have Myles Lewis-Skelly stepping up at just the right time to fill in, but the Italy international will want to be available a lot more consistently this season if he wants to win a spot in Arteta’s side.
