With his contract expiring next summer, there has been much skepticism over the future of Leicester City centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü.
The 25-year-old is one of 10 Foxes players whose contract runs out in summer 2023 but the Turkey international seems content to continue playing in England for as long as possible.
“Our performance as a team has not been at the desired level this season,” he told Tivibu Spor.
“We’ve had a good period as a team in the past one-and-a-half months. Everything is going well right now. I’m happy to be playing.
“I am happy to play in the Premier League. I want to stay in England as long as I can. My contract continues.
“It’s very nice to play with top level players. I can be a better example to the young people after me, I can help more. I am getting good experiences.
“I want to pass this on to future generations in the coming years.”
Söyüncü and Turkey will have the tall task of facing Portugal in their World Cup qualifying semi-final and will have to take on the winner of Italy and North Macedonia should they advance.
