Cádiz star Rafael Jiménez Jarque (better known as Fali) has today confirmed his intention to seek out the jersey of an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona.

Cádiz, and Barca, are of course set to lock horns on Saturday night.

As the final stretch of the La Liga campaign kicks into gear on the back of last weekend’s break for the Copa del Rey final, the two sides will face off at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

The aforementioned Fali, for his part, is expected to be afforded a starting berth for the clash, having acted as a near ever-present for Cádiz across the season to date.

And, as alluded to above, the 30-year-old is already planning his activities for the aftermath of the full-time whistle.

Speaking in an interview with ESports COPE on Friday, Fali opened up on his admiration for Barcelona prodigy Pau Cubarsí.

After first hailing Cubarsí’s abilities as a defender, the Spaniard went on to reveal his intention to seek out his compatriot’s jersey, an act which will mark just the third of Fali’s career:

“I wanted to see him in the tie against Napoli with Osimhen. I liked it a lot, he nailed it. Barça has a center back for many years. At 17 years old I love him as a defender. I’m a center back and I die with that. It’s nice to see a center back like that. It makes me want to continue.

“Look, I don’t ask for jerseys. I’ve only asked for two but I may ask for it (from Cubarsí). In five years I’ve only asked for them from Giménez and Diakhaby. I’ll give Cubarsí a hug and maybe tomorrow I’ll go and ask the youngster for his shirt.”
