Club América defender has revealed that although his future hasn’t been decided yet, he feels committed to Las Águilas.
Reports emerged online suggesting that Spanish side Getafe had enquired about the availability of the Uruguayan defender. Cáceres, however, rebutted the claims.
“My head is one hundred per cent with América because there is nothing yet,” revealed the 22-year-old.
“They haven’t told me anything about Getafe and the truth is that I found out on Twitter. So, if there’s nothing concrete I am firmly in the mindset of helping América win the title.”
Las Águilas were knocked by Pachuca in the LaLiga MX Clausura playoffs but Cáceres believes the club are already in a much better position to challenge.
“I think, in important games, we lacked a certain amount of leadership on the pitch,” he said.
“However, I think that this tournament we have already strengthened ourselves to be able to achieve it [winning the league]. We have a great quad now with the players who have arrived.”
Whether or not Cáceres leaves América is yet to be seen, but Fernando Ortiz knows he must slim down his squad before being able to register any more players.
