Borussia Dortmund have found themselves down a player against top-four rivals RB Leipzig on Saturday.
It was a stalemate in the early goings, but the game was flipped on its head within 15 minutes when Loïs Openda got in behind the Dortmund defence.
He appeared all but set to score with only the keeper to beat, but Mats Hummels came flying in from behind to take the striker down on the edge of the box.
At first, the referee gave Leipzig a penalty kick and Hummels a yellow card. But after a VAR review, the foul was judged to have come outside of the box, forcing the ref to send Hummels off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
One has to ask the question, would Hummels have been better off letting Openda score so that Dortmund could keep 11 players on the pitch!?
