Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste.
The 34-year signed a one-year deal after completing his medical on Monday and will replace the talents of the absent Sébastien Haller who was recently diagnosed with a testicular tumour.
“After analyzing the past season, we made a conscious decision to sign a more classic striker who gives our offensive game a certain physicality, header power and goal threat,” said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
“Against the background of Sébastien Haller’s illness, we are glad that we were able to add such a striker to our squad in Anthony Modeste for the current season at short notice.
“A seasoned professional who knows the Bundesliga very well, who scored 20 goals last season and who, with his profile, can take on exactly the role that our coach Edin Terzic envisions for BVB football.”
During his time in the Bundesliga, Modeste scored 83 goals and registered 16 assists in 183 league appearances for Köln and Hoffenheim.
