The League Two side signed Umerah from non-league side Wealdstone in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has played 26 times in the league for Pool, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist. He’s appeared 32 times in all competitions and has managed to find the net 13 times.

Despite Hartlepool’s struggles this season, Umerah has been a standout performer for the club and is now attracting interest as the 11pm deadline approaches.

The 25-year-old only signed a one-year deal when he joined Hartlepool, which means the League Two side could be forced into selling the forward this month as he’s entered the final six months of his contract.

Burton are in the market for a new striker this month, as it was confirmed last week that Victor Adeboyejo joined Bolton Wanderers.

It was exclusively revealed by Football League World this morning that the Brewers had made an offer to sign Cole Stockton from Morecambe.

While it has also been reported that Burton are keen on signing Charlton Athletic winger Charlie Kirk.

It remains to be seen how genuine Burton are about their interest in Umerah, but Hartlepool are unlikely willing to let their key forward depart this month, even though he only has six months remaining on his contract.

The Verdict

Burton will be desperate to sign a striker in these remaining hours of the January transfer window, considering they’ve lost Adeboyejo, who has been crucial to them this campaign.

The Brewers find themselves in a relegation battle, and they will know how important it is that they find a replacement for Adeboyejo, as their chances of going down to League Two increase if they don’t.

While for Umerah, he is obviously unproven at this level but considering the step up the 25-year-old has done since he’s joined Hartlepool, there is an argument the striker could do the same again. It’s unknown if the player will be interested in this deal and what type of offer will get him out of the League Two side.
