Scott Parker used the midweek 2-1 cup victory over Derby as a “brilliant opportunity” to give valuable minutes to his wider squad, including new signings and players returning from injury. For Saturday’s league fixture, however, he is expected to revert to the core of the side that secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend.

This means Lyle Foster will continue to lead the line, with marquee signing Kyle Walker and captain Josh Cullen providing experience in defence and midfield, respectively. While Armando Broja and Bashir Humphreys are nearing full fitness after featuring in the cup, this game may come too soon for a starting place.

The manager is still without a number of players through injury. Zeki Amdouni, Benson Manuel, and Jordan Beyer all remain unavailable, while Connor Roberts is a major doubt.
