Championship side Burnley would like to keep Jordan Beyer (22) beyond his loan spell, according to Bild – the Borussia Mönchengladbach defender is on loan until the summer.
Beyer’s loan doesn’t include an option to buy and so the Bundesliga side can command a good fee for the young defender, who has played 12 games in the Championship this season.
Gladbach head coach Daniel Farke is also monitoring Beyer’s development in England, telling Bild: “The loan is working out exactly as we wanted it to. He has to assert himself in a very physical league. We are following his development very positively.”
With Ko Itakura (25), Nico Elvedi (26) and Marvin Friedrich (26), Borussia Mönchengladbach will have three central defenders next season and so Beyer may find it difficult to break into the first team.
During his time at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Beyer has played 36 games across all competitions and can also operate at right-back, as well as central-defence.
Nicknamed ‘BeckenBEYER’ after Franz Beckenbauer, Beyer is likened to the World Cup winner because of his attacking abilities in central-defence.
