Burnley sign Nathan Redmond on a free transfer

Burnley have announced the signing of former Southampton and Norwich City forward Nathan Redmond on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old spent last season at Besiktas, where he registered six goals and six assists across all competitions, helping the Black Eagles to a third-place finish in the Super Lig.
Following his 12-month spell in the Turkish top flight, the experienced winger has returned to the Premier League to join Burnley on a two-year contract with the option of a third year.
“I always had aspirations to play again in the Premier League. Burnley’s project matches my ambitions,” said Redmond after becoming a Claret.
“The management team feel like they can enhance my game more and see the value I can bring on and off the field. It feels like a perfect match.”
Manager Vincent Kompany added: “Nathan brings a wealth of experience from playing in the Premier League and more recently from his time in Turkey, where he’s been outstanding.
“We’re looking forward to playing a big part in his next chapter. He’s got a great work ethic, plenty of skill and a willingness to continue learning.
“He also brings his personality and character to this football club which will benefit the younger players here.”
Burnley have been one of the most active players this summer, with the Clarets keen to build a squad strong enough to avoid a swift return to Championship football.
Having won the Championship, which sealed their return to the Premier League, Kompany is keen to help cement Burnley’s place as a top-flight club, and their summer business thus far is a testament to their ambitions.
Redmond becomes their fifth signing of the Premier League transfer window, but the Clarets are far from done with their squad rebuild thus far.
They are still interested in signing Chelsea defender and former loanee Ian Maatsen on a permanent transfer, while Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer is also on their radar.
