Premier League side Burnley are set to lodge a bid to sign Montpellier HSC centre-back Maxime Estève (21), according to a report from L’Équipe.
Estève, a left-footed centre-back, is under contract with Montpellier until the end of the 2024/25 season, and he is expected to garner significant interest as the end of his current deal nears. However, Burnley are looking to steal a march on the competition and are set to lodge a bid for the Frenchman before the closure of the transfer window.
The value of this bid has not yet been revealed, however, Les Héraults are fully aware of the English club’s interest, and have even begun to put a contingency plan in place, which is in itself a sign of the intensity of Burnley’s interest in Estève.
MHSC are considering replacing the French centre-back with Serge-Philippe Raux Yao (24) from Ligue 2 side Rodez AF. The Frenchman’s name is being mentioned regularly internally.
