Burnley have reignited their interest in Sporting Lisbon winger Jovane Cabral, according to a report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo.

The 24-year-old has seen his game time limited this season, recording just nine assists with some of these coming in the form of substitute appearances.

Also registering just one assist in the process, his impact has been extremely limited as well as his game time and with this, his current team may be happy to see him depart between now and tonight’s deadline.

Despite failing to see him impress during the first half of the campaign, Vincent Kompany’s men are believed to have revived their interest in the Cape Verde international with a potential move to Turf Moor on the horizon for the winger.

The Lancashire outfit were first interested in him in the summer – but he reportedly turned down a switch and could potentially be regretting that now with the Clarets on course to secure a Premier League return at the first time of asking.

Italian outfit Salernitana are another club that are interested in sealing a deal for the Cape Verdean – but they need to cash in on a player first before they can bring him in according to this report from O Jogo.

That could put Kompany’s side in pole position to seal an agreement.

The Verdict:

They will need to get their skates on if they want to secure a deal for him – but you feel they would certainly have the finances to make a deal happen considering the amount they generated from sales in the summer.

The Clarets may have spent a chunk of that on signings – but they should still have the funds to bring in at least a couple more players, though they shouldn’t be looking to make their squad too big.

Their forward department is sorted now with the signings of Lyle Foster and Michael Obafemi, so they can afford to take a look at other areas.

Unfortunately for them, a potential deal for Callum O’Hare will have to wait with the Coventry City midfielder currently out of action, though they could still add more firepower to their squad with the addition of Cabral.

Nathan Tella will probably be heading back to Southampton at the end of the season, so they may as well look to bring in a potential replacement as they look to build for the long term.

But they don’t need to do too much today with Kompany already having a very strong squad at his disposal.
