Southampton defender Ryan Manning had been linked with Burnley. But, in a recent press conference, Burnley boss Scott Parker ruled out any potential moves for him in this transfer window.

It has been almost a month since Southampton changed managers. Though brought to deliver wins, the manager seems stuck with the plethora of impulsive signings Southampton made in the summer.

As a result, some players have seen increased playing time but the situation has worsened for a few regular starters.

One such player is Southampton left-back Ryan Manning. Once a system player under Russell Martin, Manning's precedence has declined sharply under Juric. To the extent, that he has been linked with a January exit.

Manning's departure might give him a fresh start but fortune doesn't seem to be on his side.

Manning's versatility to feature anywhere on the left wing has always been an additional advantage. This characteristic had him linked with Burnley for a January move.

However, the move seems to have fallen apart even before talks had started intensifying.

In a recent press conference(via Football League World), Burnley boss hinted no interest in his move. Upon being questioned about full-back reinforcements, manager Scott Parker replied, “No, it’s not an area.”

Thus, with his only potential buyer unwilling at the moment, Manning might be forced to stay at Southampton. While certainly, it seems to be a worrying situation for him, it might not go that worse as well.

With the future of Kyle Walker-Peters uncertain at the club, Manning might be a game away from making his way into Southampton's starting lineup.

In fact, who knows, that game might have occurred already.
