The winger was prolific on the wing during his year with the Clarets.
Burnley's 2022/23 campaign was extremely impressive, and under the guidance of Vincent Kompany they eased to the Championship title.
The Clarets were relegated the season prior, and were set to play in the second tier for the first time since 2016. However, they portrayed no signs of any hangover from their dismal 2021/22 showing, and won the division by 10 points to Sheffield United.
Burnley lost just three of their 46 matches, accruing 101 points, the joint fifth most in Championship history.
Since that first game, their squad has undergone huge changes, including their manager at the time, Kompany, who is now in charge of German giants Bayern Munich.
But, it was the performances of another current Bundesliga representative that captured the hearts of the Turf Moor faithful, with Nathan Tella producing a season to remember.
Burnley signed the then 23-year-old on loan from Southampton for the 2022/23 campaign, after the winger failed to make a proper impact on the first team at St. Mary's Stadium.
Yet, with the Clarets, Tella quickly got up to speed, scoring a brace in just his third league game for the club, before finding the back of the net again in the very next game.
Bizarrely, Kompany's side suffered a slow start to the season, and it took until the sixth match of the season for them to make their way into the play-offs, but, as soon as they found themselves in the top six, they never relinquished their grip.
Tella's goal against Coventry City on October 8th secured yet another three points for Burnley, sending the club to the top of the Championship, a position they held for the next seven months straight.
Over the course of that time, the Arsenal academy graduate was spectacular. He scored his first career hat-trick against local rivals Preston North End, before hitting his second just seven games later in a 3-1 win over Hull City.
He was forced to miss four of Burnley's final five games, including the Clarets' 1-0 win away to Blackburn Rovers, in which they won the Championship title. However, his impact in the 2022/23 campaign will never be forgotten.
Following his success at Turf Moor, he was sold by Southampton to German club Bayer Leverkusen for £20 million.
His role at Leverkusen has been slightly different to the one that he had in Lancashire, and he has had to start the majority of games on the bench.
Nevertheless, he was still able to play a key part during his first season, featuring in 24 Bundesliga matches.
Tella scored five goals and picked up four assists as his new team romped their way to the league title for the first time in the club's history. Xabi Alonso's side finished the domestic campaign invincible, and lost just one game in all competitions - the Europa League Final.
Although his first year in Germany ended in a bittersweet way, he will always be thankful to Burnley for the role that they played in his development that has led him to become a top flight champion.
