Wout Weghorst is finally closing in on a move away from Turf Moor, having been the subject of speculation for much of the summer.
Ajax are closing in on a move for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that a deal has now been agreed between the two sides, with the Clarets' exodus looking set to continue.
Weghorst was always expected to leave Turf Moor this summer, having spent a sizeable chunk of his time at Turf Moor out on loan elsewhere.
Not only has he been on loan at Hoffenheim, where he spent last season, but he has also enjoyed spells at Besiktas and Premier League giants Manchester United.
And following the Lancashire side's relegation from the top flight, it looked inevitable that Weghorst wouldn't stay put, even though he has appeared for Scott Parker's side during the early stages of this term.
He isn't the first striker who's set to leave Turf Moor this summer, with Michael Obafemi already sealing a loan move to Plymouth Argyle.
And Lyle Foster could also be closing in on a move away from Parker's side, with Ipswich Town now in advanced talks to lure the player to Portman Road.
There have been plenty of big sales since their first league game of the campaign against Luton Town, and these departures could leave the Clarets short of quality during the first half of the campaign, unless they make moves during the final days of the window to replace those who have left.
To his credit, Weghorst made himself available for selection during the early stages of the campaign and came on as a substitute in the opening two league games.
However, he was left out of the matchday squad altogether for last weekend's clash against Sunderland, and that could have been a potential hint that he was on his way out of Turf Moor.
A return to his home nation looks to be on the horizon, with Ajax closing in on a move for him.
According to Romano, a deal has now been agreed and it's now set to be "sealed".
This move is said to be Weghorst's priority since June, reinforcing just how desperate he was to make the move to the Netherlands.
He will be hoping to enjoy a much better spell there than he did with the Clarets.
There have been many upsetting departures for fans in recent times.
However, few supporters will shed any tears about this imminent exit.
Weghorst has failed to thrive at Turf Moor during his time there and considering he spent much of his spell in Lancashire out on loan, he won't be a huge miss.
The one negative for the Clarets is the fact Obafemi has left and Foster could also be on his way out, which could leave them short of options if Weghorst also seals an exit.
However, they still have time to bring in replacements and Alan Pace will surely want to back Parker between now and the end of the transfer window.
