Burnley have completed the signing of Sander Berge from Sheffield United in a £15 million deal.

With just one year left on his contract prior to leaving, Berge risked being frozen out of the team having falling out with the club’s hierarchy.

Berge has now moved to Turf Moor on a four-year contract as the tenth arrival this summer as Burnley prepare for life back in the top flight.

“I have heard a lot of good things about the club and seeing the success from outside last season, there’s a great project building here,” the midfielder told Burnley’s official website.

“It’s a great environment full of young talented players from all around the world, so I just think it’s the perfect fit for me.

“The club has high ambitions, making several signings and it all just fits into what I’m looking for.”

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany will hope to call on Berge’s Premier League experience having previously featured for the Blades at this level, especially with most of his teammates relatively inexperienced.

Blessed with superb ball-carrying ability and great end product – as highlighted by his 11 direct goal contributions in the Championship last season – Berge is arguably Burnley’s best piece of transfer business this summer.

The Norwegian is expected to make his debut for his new employers in Friday’s Premier League curtain-raiser against defending champions Manchester City.

Burnley remain in the market for further acquisitions and have set their sights on Wilfred Gnonto, although they will face competition from Everton for the Leeds United man.
